PHOTO CONTEST 2023

Take a photo of the experiment or the work behind it or a creative snapshot of those involved in the experiment, submit it to the Eratosthenes Photo Competition and win a scholarship*** to attend the European School Innovation Academy summer school 2023 and/or the book “Learning Astronomy through Inquiry”.

Teachers from all over the world, that register on our site, are eligible to take part in the photo contest.  The deadline for submitting your photo is the 20^th of April  4^th of May, 2023. A committee of experts from Ellinogermaniki Agogi will select the winner, on the 26^th of April  9^th of May, 2023.

The contest in 5 steps

1. Take your photo.
2. Submit your data on our website (calculation of the Earth's circumference).
3. Register to the OSOS educational platform: http://www.schoolofthefuture.e (Click on the right side of the screen to join OSOS). If you already have an account from previous years, please login. 
4. Join the Community of the Eratosthenes Photo Contest Μarch 2023 (inside the ODS Platform): https://www.schoolofthefuture.eu/en/community/eratosthenes-photo-contest-march-2023
5. Click on Resources area and afterwards on:  Add New Resource. Upload your photo as an educational object and  state in the Title your School Name and Country (feel free to add your Name too if you wish). 

The theme of the contest is the Eratosthenes Experiment. Take a photo of the experiment or the work behind it or a creative snapshot.

Minimal manipulation of digital images, such as cropping, small adjustments to brightness, color, color balance and/or sharpness, is permitted.

Each participant teacher must submit only one photo. In other case the participation in the Photo Contest will not be accepted.

In case your photo includes images of minors, please make sure you have obtained a signed consent by their legal guardians. Each country follows its own procedures on the matter, so please consult with the relevant authorities.

Only teachers* from registered schools that have submitted their data can take part.

The prize*** for the Eratosthenes Experiment Photo Contest is a place in the 2023 European School Innovation Academy’s 6-day Summer School in Marathon, Greece with all the costs (traveling, accommodation, catering and fees) covered by the relevant scholarship.

*** Due to financial rule limitations (sponsorship from EU projects), the winning prize is for EU teachers only. For teachers outside Europe the winning prize (postal costs included) will be an astronomy book, titled "Learning Astronomy through Inquiry".

* Teachers that registered and participated in the September 2022 Eratosthenes Experiment are also eligible to join the competition by submitting one photo (that was taken either during September 2022 or March 2023).
