WINNER MARCH 2023

The Eratosthenes Experiment, organised on the 21st of March 2023 by Ellinogermaniki Agogi’s (EA) Research and Development Department in collaboration with the Hellenic Mathematical Society, received a a great response, as 196 schools from 33 countries all over the world participated in this celebration of science and education, calculating the circumference of the Earth by using eLearning educational tools and simple instruments.

Teachers from the above participating schools and institutions joined the group of the Photo Contest March 2023 in OSOS Eratosthenes Experiment community, submitting pictures capturing the schools’ involvement in the experiment.

Eratosthenes Experiment  March 2023 Photo Contest Winner:

The two-runners up of the photo contest were:

Mr. Serafettin from Hacı Numan Secondary School in Istanbul (Turkey).

Mr. Abdellatif Bendahhou from Middle school TAHA HCINE in Boujdour (Morocco).

The remaining two finalists (in random order) of the final 5 selected photos were:

Mr. Mohammed Adil Asfouri from Lamsalla High school in Laâyoune (Morocco).

Mrs. Costantina Cossu from E Fermi Alghero scientific High school (Italy).

The prize for the Eratosthenes Experiment Photo Contest winner is a place in the 2023 European School Innovation Academy’s AMASE 6-day Summer School in Marathon, Greece with all the costs (traveling, accommodation, catering and fees) covered by the relevant scholarship. Congratulations to the 4th Gymnasium Ano Liosion (Greece).

The prize for each of the four finalists of the photo contest is an astronomy book, titled "Learning Astronomy through Inquiry" (postal costs included).
